    Smile Early Season Strategy

So what's everyone's favorite strategy for early season crappie? Do you have a particular method for catching these guys is small lakes? I'm pretty excited to start catching these bad boys how 'bout you? (Just trying to keep it going in here )

    Default Early Crappies

Now, you should find the in the main creek at the mouth of a spawning creek cove or hollow. They will be on some kind of structure or in a bend of the creek. They are staging to travel up the main creek channel to spawn.
Depending on the water temp. dictates how far up the creeks toward the spawning area they are. I have found them suspended over a wide slopping point in 50+ degree water.I mean maybe 300 to 400 yds. square. You can tear them up trolling.

Caught a couple last night. A 7" and a 12". Didn't want to keep just one so it went back into the drink. I also caught a few bass, but not perch. I'm going to go and try a different place this afternoon.

I work at the station so I've been fishing from the bank at one of the discharges. The only public ramp that I know of is the one right off of highway 93 on the other side of the lake from the station.
