Default Brownlee reservoir on the snake River.

it is very slow fishing the crappie are there depending on where you go it's best to use a fishfinder to try to find them they been very finicky I have managed to catch fish in the evening but you really have to work for them we are using 4 pound test with micro-jigs 1/32 seem to be the ticket anything bigger they will not strike for me the fish that we've been getting art in shallow 5 to 6' of water using a bobber from 3 to 4 feet deep working very slowly using a crappie nipples
it is a must will give more reports as a summer goes by if they would just leave the water alone and Brownlee I think things would be better the fish that we've been getting are on the large size for crappie 12 to 13 inch catching both white and black.

Nice sizes, especially with a finicky bite.

I have bad news for the people that are coming to fish and Brownlee reservoir they are starting the water again it has dropped over 3 feet in the past few days it is a sad situation this again will throw the fish in a tailspin.
local reports from the borders in the main Brownlee pool the fish are deep down to 30 to 40 feet but the bite is still sketchy you really have to work hard to get them like I said in the previous posting they were in the shallows but they probably will move on down into deeper water with the fluctuation I will be fishing at this evening to see if they are still in the shallows. when an ever are they going to leave the water alone in Brownlee I don't know. the funny thing about this is that they do not drop the water in Oxbow or Hells Canyon. I went to hell's Canyon last night on Idaho side fishing off the dock and cut 45 fish small CRAPPIE these were 7'' fish a lot of them but no size. if you anglers really care about Brownlee reservoir you need to contact your state representatives and voice your opinion. though the warm water fishery and Brownlee is hanging on for how long I don't know the crappie are not what they used to be I have been fishing and Brownlee over 35 years remembering in the years passed it was no problem filling a 5 gallon bucket and a half hour or less before three-quarter to a pound crappie so again if you really care about this fishery contact your state representatives.

Hope you can inspire enough voices of sportsmen to make a difference before it's too late.

I just read that that is a hydro- electric reservoir and that the low water levels are due to increased electricity demand.

    Water Information

Idaho Power’s operations influence the Snake River. However, there are many other factors affecting the flow in the Snake River, including spring flows, irrigation demand, flood control, snowpack, navigation and special flows for salmon, construction projects and local events.
