    Default Moses Lake

My girlfriend and I decided to try Moses Lake last weekend since we hadn't fished up there since June. The last time we went, we tried fishing the spillways, the first spillway wasn't low enough to where I like it to be fishing for bass and crappie so we had went to the second spillway and caught some smallmouth. We tried back at the spillways again and of course this time the first spillway pretty much was drawn all the way down, we fished for awhile, catching a bunch of dink bass, crappie, and perch. Since all we were catching were small fish we went to the I-90 bridge. She had never fished there before so I thought we'd go there. Right when we got there, a local was pulling up a 1 and a half pound smallmouth, then ended up pulling up a 10" crappie a couple minutes after that. So she was pretty excited that there were some decent sized fish in this area to fish for. We ended up catching a bunch of walleye around 10-13", smallmouth to 1 and a half pounds, and I hooked a couple crappie that looked to be big enough to keep but everytime I'd get ready to bring them out the water they'd get off.

We ended up going back up there the day after and it was a lot slower than the previous day. The first hour was fast action but after that it was slow. During the first hour I caught a couple small walleye like the previous day. I ended up hooking into a larger walleye about 16" but when I saw it it ended up coming off, I was about to start heading to the side of the bridge so I could bring it in! Right after that about 3 minutes later I hooked another fish. Seemed like a decent fish but then all of a sudden it must've felt it was hooked and it started peeling line like crazy. I tried bringing it over to the side of the bridge so I could start bringing it in to shore but it kept peeling line everytime I'd get close enough to the first set of pillars. Fought it for about 10 minutes and it ended up breaking the line where the jig was at. I never got to see what it was, but I'm guessing it was either a huge smallmouth or a big walleye from how it was fighting. I was pretty pissed about losing that fish but ended up catching a couple more small walleye and smallmouth during the slow fishing times. My girlfriend caught a couple small walleye, smallmouth, and a 9-10 inch perch.

We haven't fished Moses but have gone to Potholes a couple times but weren't very successful either time.
I hope to try Upper Goose lake soon. There is also Long Lake right there somewhere close by that I think has good Crappie populations.
