    Unhappy powder river

me and the family are planning a trip to the powder river taking my wife and 7yr old due to the fact that the few friends i do have are not fishermen, so rather than go by myself i will take them. i talked with gary of brownlee charters and he charges 100.00 per person to go out for 8 hrs(i think that is reasonable) hitching post motel 80.00 w/kitchenette. i know hewitt park 11.00 a nite. what i don't know is there a place to rent boats. i have a 16 ft gregorw/25hp but it is not river ready, any body from this area making the trip mid july. my fishing or should i say my catching of crappie last and this year so have sucked, other than some nice guys afew weeks ago giving me a couple of crappie at hutchiinson lake thats it.helppppppppppp

SUP? NICK I'VE BEEN TO HEWITT PARK ONCE BACK IN 07- ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU WILL SEE A SIGN THAT SAYS CRAPPIE MECCA(GO FIGURE). NOT HATING ON BROWNLEE CHARTERS BECAUSE I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THEY HAVE BILLS TO PAY AND MOUTHS TO FEED, BUT MY FRIEND YOU CAN RENT A BOAT AT SNAKE RIVER BOAT RENTALS AND GO GET THEM YOURSELF. PLEASE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THE FISH ARE EVERYWHERE. WE CAMPED AT HEWITT PARK AND DID DAMAGE FROM THE SHORE. I ALSO RENTED A PONTOON BOAT FOR 125.00 ALL DAY. PICTURE THIS MY WIFE NEVER HAS DRIVEN A BOAT AND SHE DID AND I HAD EACH ONE OF MY KIDS ON A CORNER OF THE BOAT AND EVERYBODY HAD FISH-ON. BRING A CAMERA AND PLENTY OF FILM, ALL I CAN SAY I HAVE A SNOOPY POLE IN MY GARAGE THAT IS LEGENDARY FROM MY BABY GIRL THAT PEOPLE STILL REMEMBER THAT SHE COULD NOT KEEP THE CRAPPIE AND SMALLMOUTH OFF OF HER POLE.

HONESTLY YOUR 16FT. SHOULD BE FINE IF YOU BRING IT BECAUSE MOST OF THE FISH WERE HOLDING 10 TO 15 YARDS FROM THE SHORE. I DON'T THINK THE CURRENT WAS THAT BAD BECAUSE I ALSO RENTED A 16 FT. BOAT AND HAD 3 KIDS IN IT AND WE STILL GAVE THEM HELL. MAN I DON'T EVEN LIKE FISHING IN WA. ANYMORE THANKS TO RICHLAND ORE. ANYWAY ENOUGH YAPPING ,I'M GETTING MY GEAR TOGETHER FOR THE END OF NEXT MONTH RIGHT NOW ,BECAUSE THAT'S THE KIND OF PLACE IT IS. MY DAUGHTER STILL TALKS ABOUT IT SO YOU KNOW IT'S A HELL OF A PLACE. TAKE CARE

HEY? SLAB I STRUCK OUT ON THE SHORE FROM OHOP, I WAS TO THE RIGHT OF THE BOAT LAUNCH AND THE SKUNK AND BEAVER WERE WITH ME THE DAY AFTER YOU WENT FISHING THERE. THERE ARE NO LILY PADS CLOSE TO THE SHORE. I'LL HOLLA

You should try hitting up the ifish.net website for Oregon fisherman. On the warmwater section there's a lot of info on Brownlee and they'll help you out on areas. You'll probably find someone there that will be heading there around that time and maybe be able to meet up with them to fish for crappie/catfish.
