Default To Lake Kapowsin tomorrow (& video).....

    Hey all,

I'm going to Lake Kapowsin tomorrow. I'll post whatever my efforts are rewarded with.

Here's a really nice video of a couple fishing Kapowsin and catching a bunch of crappie.

    Gamefishin.com Forums

A shout out to SlabKiing for his crappie page. Is it time to hit Lyons Ferry yet?

    Tight lines all.

    Default Not great......

    Hey all.

Fished Kapowsin today. Two nice crappie, one nice bluegill, one dink rock bass. Beautiful day on the water. Fished 7 am to 2 pm. Used white and white/red 1/32 oz. jig 18-24" under a bobber. Had best luck near lily pads at south end of island in the cove.

Am a beginner to crappie fishing on the west side, hope to get better soon. Any advice would be appreciated.

At least you got something, I've always wanted to try that lake but never have gotten down there.

Nice man. I may head down there next weekend and give them a shot. I love to use a flyrod with a yellow foam spider out there. The bluegills and crappie won't stay off that thing. Been fishing that old lake since I was 6 years old. Yellow and white jigs are my go to color out there. Did you try around the old pilling row north of the launch? Great area there.

I have not been out to Lyons this year. May not make it out there until late June so it be a night fishing deal then. Heard they are killing them on the Powder River. 200 fish days are common now.

Is Lyons Ferry more of a boat place to catch crappie or is there good areas for shore fishing? Just got good news with a job over in Wallula so I'll probably be checking out the area if there's good shore areas to fish until I got enough money to buy a truck and pay my dad for his little boat and haul it over.

    jbball50,
There are places to fish from shore around Lyons. You can fish from the bank at the park, the marina, and up above the dam. When the weather gets hot it's best to fish at night. The fish will be under any docks you can find.

Nice, hopefully I'll be able to get out there a lot this summer and fish the Snake from those areas. Does the river get much current or larger waves or would I be able to bring my 14' Duraboat out there with a 9.9 hp motor? Might have to tell the dad to bring it over next weekend when he brings some stuff over to my place for the apartment.

You'll been fine in your boat around Lyons Ferry and above the dam. The current in the main river is very strong when the gates are open on the dam. You can call the dam hotline and found out what the flows are. But the flows don't really matter if you launch from the state park and head up the Palouse. When you head into that area with a boat you want to fish along the bluffs, out in front of them, in the river channel, and in the bay at the park.

    Slab,

Yeah I was guessing when the dams aren't open it's pretty nice, was just wondering more when they do let some water out more than anything. Guess next weekend my dad is going to bring the boat over and be able to fish Lyon's Ferry and the mouth of the Palouse for a day and a half or so for some catfish and crappie. Gathered up some info from here and walakes and looked at some of the old f&h mags for next weekend. I wish I could find the map from one of the f&h mags but that was a no go but I know they made one.
