I made a couple that are nearly identical, and they work very well.

Here are some simpler plans that you can use for Crappie. These planer boards are castable and flip direction if you give them a little tug.

You need a 1/4" thick piece of pine or cedar, some outdoor wood glue, a WD40 spray tube and a toothpick or a split-shot for slip-rigging. You'll need a scroll saw and a drill. Put on a coat of water proof paint or deck sealer by spray or brush. I made my first one in about 40 minutes.

You can print the pattern to scale and paste it on the board (with the grain) and cut with a scroll saw. Drill the hole to press fit in a piece of WD40 tubing.

If you want to make a large size you can print the pattern twice scale and use 1/2" pine.

I have a patent and make some out of plastic called the BulletBobber in 4 sizes 2", 2.5", 3" and 4". I also have some 6" long called the DualFin made out of a tough foam that only weigh 1 ounce. The DualFin is a clip-on in-line planer board where as the line needs to be threaded thru the BulletBobber. It is OK to make them for personal use or to give away as gifts but please don't sell them - it is only fair considering what I have put into it. But giving out plans to make them during hard times is only fair too. I know some folks must fish to eat - been there done that - and could be there again!

I am running a special thru Fathers Day - 4 DualFins for $50 and free shipping!

I've been conspiring in recent months to build a fully functional real planer board of smaller proportions because I'm tired of all the BS board plans and such that put you in the hole for a bunch of money. If it works out for me I'll be marketing it at C.c for WAY less than the stuff you see now.

    backtocrappie,
You might have some catching up to do. I starting working on it 30 years ago.
Here is a picture of a couple DualFnns if you haven't seen them.

Here are some things you can do with the DualFin.

Small BulletBobbers are only $2.50 or 4 for $8.00 and free shipping if the order is over $20.00.

Here are some things shore fishermen can with the BulletBobber.

Planer boards with direction control are better then ones without it!
And they are simple to make if you must or want.

Those little boogers look like the ticket. The thing really like about 'em is that they are so easy to store in the boat.

I've seen you gear in the past, neat stuff! Almost bought some last winter, but I wanted something different and no one has it at a price thats right. So I started compiling junk and hardware came up with a small release, and traditional gear, just need to finish the project.

Paul - great product. A buddy of mine purchased your DualFins and received a free 4" Bulletbobber sample - which he gave to me. The 4" is too big for the tiny crappie jigs I use (not enough drag to keep it tracking well), but it works great with larger baits. Money is tight right now, or I'd order some smaller ones from you today. Thank you for posting the plans. I'll probably make myself a couple of the 2" and see how they work with the little jigs. Won't cost anything, because I've got the stuff to make them laying around the garage.

The fact that you're willing to share the plans with folks for personal use, says a lot about the kind of person, and businessman you are - the good kind!

I'll be sure to pass along details of your products to all my fishing buddies and try to drive some business your way. Thanks again!

    Joe
