I don't know about the rest of the guys on crappie.com but I work a day job.
I have dreams about licensing my patent to a company. Well actually only providing sole rights to make them using certain materials. Maybe one of the big companies that make Styrofoam type bobbers with spring clamps will want to stay a head of the curve and make my latest design. I designed it especially for EPS bobber maker machines.

There are 2 big companies that I know of - Plastilite and Comal that might be interested, especially if they knew the other one was. Maybe even Wing-It but they don't have the machinery.

You can get Comal or Plastilite floats in packs of 3 or 4 for a couple bucks but how much more would one be worth if it had directional control? I think an extra quarter each would be a great deal? Those guys can make millions of them and sell them quickly and that is something I can't do because the tackle industry as a whole isn't friendly to outsiders butting in.

Great Design but if china sees them, Then they will flood the market with them. And the bad thing is does not matter how many patent's anyone has in the USA. If you don't have one China. They will take it over.

    Pete,

I have a rock solid patent and if some China Company got them in stores I would be happy that they did because marketing cost more then I can afford. My patent attorney would be glad to sue the stores that carried them.
You don’t sue the company that makes them you sue the stores for selling them.
They get one warning and must remove them from shelves.
Then if the stores still wanted them they would have to come to me.

    Why use a BulletBobber?

Good luck and hope you do have a Rock Solid Patent. But they have to only change it a little and run with it. I also have a few of these Rock Solid Patent's. That is until China gets hold of them. Shoot just go and look at other products. If there a great product, they have a patent in each country.
But again I hope yours is, But being it's so easy to make if it hits Bass-Pro or Cabelas the next year it will be on the shelfs of stores across the world.

There are 2 kinds of patents Utility and Design. Utility patents like mine cover a very broad range and are generic. A design patent is for doing something different to a Utility patent. You can't make and sell a design patent without getting permission from the Utility Patent holder. IF it planes to the side and flips direction when given a tug it would be patent infringement.

I have had other patents where I work and learnded about them a long time ago.

I now have them made in China and they have gang molds for each size. Wish I coiuld afford to do it here but with packaging and the other labor I could not sell them at profit. It sucks but if I didn't have them made in China I wouldn't have a product to sell at all because of tooling cost.

Without putting money into marketing chain stores don't want it. If I could afford marketing...say $100 to $200K then they would call me back. You could get dog terds on the shelves of Wal-Mart if you can afford marketing and show there are enough suckers out there!

I even designed pretty cool looking packaging just for retailers.
UPC codes, instructions and diagrams on the back.

I hope it takes off on its own, somehow, before the patent wears off.
The big tackle companies don't, so they can knock it off.
