Default Summer Walleyes in The South

I'm a relatively new walleye fisherman in Arkansas. We do have world class walleye fishing here on Greers Ferry Lake--Home of the current world record, Bull Shoals Lake, and several more like Norfork, Beaver, etc.

My question is this. Where do the eyes go when it's 100 degrees outside? The folks I talk to don't seem to think the fishing is very good this time of year, but that can't be so, they still eat. I think people just quit fishing for em in the heat. I know they go deep, and spoons and stuff will catch some, but what about catching the numbers you see in the post spawn time of year?

All suggestions will be appreciated and considered.

I just fished Bull Shoals this weekend. Pulled cranks in the morning and did very well, fish were in the 24' range. Bandits and Taildancers were the ticket. I did catch a few fish midday using crawler harnesses and inlines but the fishing definately slowed after 8:00 am. Didn't get a chance to fish at night

drag 800 series reef runners over submerged trees at 50 feet or so put out 4 rods with planer boards if you have them . also try different colors on each to see what they want. use line counter reels if you got em and go out 80-100 feet . you can use a snap weight on the line 30-50 feet from your bait to lessen the amount of line out and have fun . works at hot summers july- aug.

I have all the gear with the exception of the 800 RR's. How deep do they run at 100' out? I do have the precision trolling book, but it's at work so I can't look it up. I have the D11 tail Dancers though. I do have the Cabelas copy of the reef runner in the 3.5" and the 4.75".

Did you use the bandit walleye version or one of the others? I fish bull shoals also but only in may. From point 3 all the way to 16. What area were you in? 24 feet is still in the trees and brush isn't it? We pulled cranks on the old shoreline in 35-40' in may and early June. These are a few of the fish my buddy caught. The biggest is 29".

i use 15/4 fireline with a 1oz wt 20-25 ft from lure then one rod 100' another 120 then another up to 150 . watch tree top depth , may not need 150 .let out the line then put a board on then another 50'. should be between 34-40ish feet . stay above tree tops . u dont want to loose 8$ lures all day long. they will come up to get it.should catch some nice bass in the mix too.ck the precision trolling book and watch the dive curve if you are not using 10#mono . in my opinion with that much line out you do not want that stretch.
