    Default Lake James

Went to James early yesterday, no bite before daylight so we figured it would be a good day to troll, cool overcast foggy, wrong. Nothing biting at all. At least 5 boats trolling the area and nothing. Got one hit, but it felt more like a trout than a walleye. Did catch a couple small white bass and one crappie. I think the bad thunder storms we had the night before must have turned them off. Oh well just have to try another day. Good luck.

It seems like the day after a bad storm is just a good day to stay home. I never have much luck the day after, either.

Hello. Yes we have caught several trout in the dam and spillway area fishing deep during the summer. Mostly rainbows on spoons trolling.

A couple years ago i caught a 6lb rainbow and went back to the same place and caught a 5lb rainbow. This was straight past the big island.I caught these while night fishing for crappie.I think that was the most fun I have had reeling a fish in.It had all kinds of of fight in him.Got them in on small crappie poles.

I have caught some pretty good trout trolling in the river channel in front of the big island also. I bet that was a fight on a crappie rod. Good luck.

It seems this year has been different from other years, with all the storms and very high water levels the walleye and trout have been hard for me to come by, but the crappie fishing has been great. We have done better on crappie than any years I can think of. The water is warm now so time to get serious about trolling deep water. Good luck and good fishing.
