    Default Norfolk Update

    Update from Norfolk:

    1. 2023 Boat Permits are available for purchase at the Customer Service counter located at Norfolk City Hall. Note that the location has changed. Updated address - Boat Permits | City of Norfolk, Virginia - Official Website. The vendors have been notified that they are available. Contact Ocean's East or G'Daddy's to see if the have them for sale.

    2. The ramp at Burnt Mills remains closed. While the water level was down, the ramp was regraded and new rock installed. However, the ramp is too soft to support a vehicle. Once the water rises and we determine that it is safe, the area will reopen. See #3.

    3. The Hampton Roads region will finish the calendar year more than 10 inches below normal for rainfall. Rainfall is the primary source to refill the reservoirs.

UPDATE - The Burnt Mills boat ramp is open today. The surface of the ramp appears to be solid enough to support a vehicle and boat trailer, but please use caution.

Sorry, but we had to shut the gate at Burnt Mills boat ramp. We tried to take our boat out on Wednesday and it was too soft to support us. Just past the end of the rock is still like pudding.
