    Default Heat

If you were going to fish in this heat would you start in weeds or deep?

I would fish structure deep (above the thermocline) and then adjust accordingly.

The last time I fished weather like this the guy I was with caught 150 fish. I won't tell you how many I caught, its too embarrassing. Watch your line very carefully. If it makes any movement at all. set the hook. Don't wait for a thump.

Do you use 20 dollar bills for bait?

They can be anywhere. Ive been fishing the James river barge pit lately. Water temp Sunday morning was 90. I found them on 2 pieces of wood cover. One in 5’ and the other 12’. They were one cast apart. I’d catch them one one for a while and when they stopped I’d catch them on the other. Mostly small fish but steady action.

So they can tolerate the heat. Also catching catfish, sunfish, tiny white perch and a few baby stripers. Fun. On the water by 7am. On the way home by 10 am. In too tubby to take the heat.

The lake I’m fishing has a very defined thermocline about 10 feet. No fish anywhere below that.
