Default A.C.T. Crappie Tournament: North River Feb.5

Got a Tourney coming up at North River. $50 per boat registration fee. $10 big fish. Probably another pot for big yellow perch. Had 20 boats last year. Good crowd, good folks. Be registered by 6:30 am. Blast off at 7 am. 1st through 3rd place payout. Biggest crappie and biggest perch payouts. 100% payout. We also have a 50/50 drawing with 50% going to the trail for end of the season banquet and the other half going to drawing winner. My ugly butt will be there. Hope to see you all there!CF

Had a great tournament yesterday despite the tough conditions. Charles Hartman "Shag" and Doug Stewart won. Joel and I came in 3rd with a busted trolling motor. It was a challenge with the wind but there were some really good weights brought in. Next one up is Feb.19. it is a trailer tourney based out of the new boat ramp at Hertford NC on the perquimins River.CF

Of course the wind dies down the day after the tournament! How was the perch bite?

We are used to it. It would not be a proper tournament unless the wind was blowing 25 plus. Everything went well and everyone was safe. The perch bite is off at North River this year. There is still perch to be had. We had several weighed in right at a pound. But the numbers are definitely down. We saw that throughout prefishing as well.CF

crappiefarmer, I know this is a little off topic but with you living in the area i figured you would be the one to ask.My question is about the white perch fishing around the eden house bridge wanting to know it is a spring and summertime fishery or do a lot of the perch hang around the whole year. Thanks in advance

The bite I've seen in central VA tends to start when SSTs get more towards 55-60 degrees, which we're a good bit away from yet. April the best month for those guys IME

It's a little earlier down here on North and Northwest rivers. Feb. Is usually the hot bit with prespawn feed on full speed.
