    Default Lost fishing equipment?

What have you lost while fishing?

I think I lost one rod a bunch of years ago. But on Friday, while trying to anchor to put some minnows over a brush pile, I lost my anchor. i keep the 75' of rope wrapped on a plastic extension cord loom thing. I unwound what I thought was enough and tossed it over. But not enough rope out and the plastic holder popped over the side and down it went. 25 or so feet of water. I've had this Richtor anchor for a long time. It works very well in the current of the James river.

I did save a waypoint. I'm going to send it to Roy and see if he can livescope it for me. I may go back and take an old fashioned, fish stringer, open all the pins and drag it around. I miss the old girls.

    Stuff happens.

Oh wow this is depressing. A pair of Raybans when I leaned over to hook up to a rig while fishing, wave hit me in the face I watched the glasses twirl out of site

A Leatherman multi tool catfishing. - they don't float
Marker bouys- got in a hurry and tossed it out without unwrapping the weight. They sink

All my fishing gear from the truck bed while I ran in to pay for gas. It was a loss.

I saw where Harbor Freight sells large magnets with eyelets for attaching ropes. If you get close to it, that magnet will do better than that stringer.

Fishing gear missing from truck bed-

When my wife and I are finished boating for the day, she often asks to stop and eat at restaurants. Every time I say the same dumb thing. “Honey- we would come back to an empty boat”. She has lead kind of a sheltered life and doesn’t realize that she is completely surrounded by thieving maggots. I told her, “Honey, do you remember when we looked up how many sex offenders where in our area, and there were like a hundred. Well there are thousands of these thieves roaming around.” She also questions the need for me to have a .357 Magnum revolver on my nightstand. Just doesn’t want to believe her fellow man is a scumbag. I think it is cute but I also know that some are so bold that they never seem to get caught. They walk right up as if they own it, reach in and walk away. They don’t run they walk. Chances are good that even if the cops grab them that they will be back out thieving again before the cop finishes his shift.

There is a place on the St Johns River where you can rent a cabin and keep your boat in a slip. She wants she wants. I have read about people missing all their rods, trolling motor, depth finder, gas tank, prop, etc when they rise to spend the day on the river. Shame they cannot protect their clients. I would rather my stuff fall overboard than be stolen.
Maybe they will bite this one……

I think of the 357 as a life insurance policy. It is there in case the need arises. A good flashlight is also comforting. Just not bright as to blind you reflecting off the walls

Yeah I seen those. I think I'm going to get one myself. I bought a little red one from there that says 30# weight but I guarantee unless it's a perfect flat surface it doesn't do well. I'm hoping this 250# one would be better. Never know when you might need it.

Lost it at Buggs. Rudd’s creek. I figure it would cost me almost as much in gas in truck and boat to go try to retrieve it as it will to buy another.
