    Default Lights for night fishing?

I have a green LED fishing light. Haven't really used it much.

I tried off a pier last year around april and got a ton of minnow-sized baitfish to swarm around it, but nothing big biting.

Did it for maybe two hours an something big (maybe a 5 to 10 pound catfish or carp) swam over the light, but nothing went for my jigs.

    Any trick to using lights?

I've never used them myself. Do a search on the site for night lights and you will get a lot of hits

If you're not already, fish at the edge of the light out into the dark water. Predators lurk in the shadows looking for their victims.

i have a green led given to me but it eats up my trolling battery too quickly so havn't tried it but twice and didn't last long enough to attract anything. don't have power at my dock so can't use that. but their are many good youtube video's of it being used. thinking of adding led's to underside of my toon for that as they don't draw much power supposedly.

I'm currently looking for some green LED lights. I think I've decided on the Fire Water ones on amazon. CrappieNow has a current article on the Hydroglow ones that look pretty good as well. Wish there was more info on them though.

If you're a DIYer, which I suspect you are, you could build one like this guy did...

Yes I've seen that before and it's a good video. I think by the time I bought all the supplies and then had time to build the thing I could have just bought one and gone fishing. I'm not looking at any expensive lights so probably about same cost when all said and done.

Yes I fish the edges trying several feet away from the main light, but get no reactions.

Should I just put it on a barber and leave it? Or actively Jig?
