    Default Back Bay

Here is a good article from VDWR about Back Bay. Fishing Report for March, 2021 Back Bay - YouTube It sure brings back a lot of fond memories. Back then when we decided to go Crappie fishing there was no question as to where. Back Bay! I'm not familiar with the ramps they mentioned. The ones we used, mostly Davis Landing, has been closed for years unless one of those listed is it renamed. I remember the ramp itself was on a canal. I sure am glad to see Back Bay is making a big come back. If you go just find yourself a duck blind and start fishing around it. We always used minnows but I wouldn't hesitate to use jigs now.

Back then grass was very heavy in the bay and when going from one place to another you had to stop often to clean the grass off the prop. Also if you go pay close attention to the weather. Back Bay is big and shallow. 5-6 feet the best I can remember and storms can pop up out of nowhere. Several times we had to just tie up to a duck blind and wait it out. There are no tree lined coves that I remember that you can hide in and I'm not familiar with the area they are showing. Let us know how you do.

Thanks for sharing that. Been many years since I've been to Back Bay. Always had a good time and caught fish.

When I was stationed here the first time, a guy in my apartment complex took me out to back bay. The weeds were so thick but the fishing was just over the top. I remember them days Bill. I used to camp at Bob's fishing hole and fish Northwest river. That was great fishing also.
