Default Anybody caught or seen a 4 pounder ?

Roy and Gene been showing us some real nice fish. Anybody caught or seen a 4 pound crappie ? Some years ago I saw a picture in a local paper of a 4 plus from the Bannister River an older man had caught. I talked to him at the ramp, all he would say was it was caught way up the river on a minnow. That fish was around 19 inches. I got my first crappie citation from there about that time. Most crappie there were thin. A friend caught a 17.5 inches there with me that was only 1-7/8 pounds. Went with the VDGIF biologist and game wardens on their shock boat once on a small public lake, we shocked 6 huge white crappie off the same tree, I netted the biggest, it was 20 inches long, we had no scale on the boat and no camera, this was before we all had cell phones. It had to be over 4. Widest and longest crappie I ever saw. The 5 others were 2.5 to 3 plus pounds . All were released. I fished that lake a lot after that but could not get one over 14 inches. All those fish were very wide but very thin. If that 20 inches had been fat as a Buggs crappie it would have pushed 5 lbs. I saw a mounted crappie from Lake Anna caught in the 70’s was reported 4.5. Spent some time at Santee Cooper and saw many 3 plus mounts hanging in local stores and shops.

I hope to get back with you after tomorrow and show you the 4+ pounder I hope to catch. LOL
I know Ron King caught a 4+ pounder during one of Bobcat's Crappie Tournaments several year ago. Picture is on their website.
I've been dreaming of a 4 pounder for years, the way my year has been blessed already in 2021 you never can tell.
Seen where a guy a week or so ago caught an almost 4-1/2 pounder from Kerr/Buggs, weighted it and took it home and ate it before getting it certified as a NC state record for a white crappie.

Wooo, that’s a big one. High Rock Lake is where I got introduced to long lining with multiple poles. Bought my first long rods there at Hills Minnow Farm. Had a couple very successful trips down there.

I got to see one! I'm from California, and didn't catch it, but I saw it and it is now the state record black crappie, not even 18" if I remember correctly, but look how thick and wide! Great story about volunteering for the electro study. Name: IMG952648.jpg

my avatar fish was estimated between 3.8 and 4.4 after many many terribly scientific charts and estimates .
of course i let her swim on and never weighed her but she was if i remember correctly just at 18 inches long
and her girth exceeded her length by an inch at 19 , will never know for sure what she weighed ,but .....
my 4.2 replica on my wall of her is for sure smaller than she was according to replica photos of me holding both the exact same way
and of course my wife who was the only witness and took the photos .
i can say i never seen a crappie bigger than her in real life anywhere else .
