Where you at Crappie Farmer? We need you to answer his questions. I don't remember the Pasquotank ever getting very bad but then there are a lot of things I don't remember. Tahoe50 might know too.
I mostly fish the NWR, but as those who do know, when we get these alternating North and South winds, the water gets bad for a week or more.
My alternate sights like Tulls Creek, Back Bay and the North Landing river get bad at the same time, for the same reason, the North wind blows the Albemarle Sound down and all the good water in the rivers goes out into the sound, then when the South wind comes, the rivers get filled with brackish water from the sound.
So, while waiting for rain to flush out the bad water, what places aren't affected? Does the Elizabeth City area get bad at the same time? What about Chippokes on the James?
What plan B isn't too far from Chesapeake?

Hmmm, it's awfully quiet. They must be really biting down there.
What's a good place to launch on the Pasquotank?
You can get a day pass and minnows at the Meade bait shop and fish either Meade or Cahoon in Suffolk. Both good crappie lakes.
We always put in at Sawyers Creek Ramp. Then go down river to the Paquotank. Google Maps

I would fish Indian Town creek. I have never seen it muddy and the fishing is great for crappie and big yellow perch.

Tried the Pasquotank today, launched at Sawyer's creek, first impression, it's big.
The wind made 99% of the river unfishable, but I found some creeks and sloughs out of the wind and got 7 good fish.
Saw only two other boats all day, one bass fisherman and one crappie fisherman wanting information from me. Didn't have much to offer, but I'll try there again when the wind isn't blowing whitecaps in the river.
Pasquotank right now is good from Sawyers to Elizabeth city. Perquimins has been of fire but has gone to crap. Places are firing and fizzling all over.CF
