    Default NWR Report 12-28-2020

It's been since March since I hit the NWR for crappie. Today I fished from 9-2. Arrived to find 38 degree surface temperature, and water down about 16". Water color was good down to the park then started to get dirtier as you went down from there as dirty water was being pulled from Smith Creek. Started down near the state line and worked my way back to the park. Managed catching only 10 crappie today and one LMB about 1.5 lbs. Most fish were caught about 7-8 down. The bite was light and didn't they didn't want a lot of movement. Which was hard with the strong south winds this afternoon. Most of the fish were 8-10" but did have this pair of 12" fish.

Good job getting some on a finicky bite, even better just to get out. Happy New Year.
