    Default Quick river trip

Hit the water about 2pm. Of course, wind against the tide. But managed a few. Felt good to get out there.

Seems like the fish were biting good yesterday. Hope it holds on for another 2 weeks. Looks like a nice one. Minnows or jigs.

My father came in from Illinois Wednesday and was hoping to get him on the river this weekend. I’m still very green to the river and conditions, BUT how dangerous will the river be tomorrow after the rain? Launching at Dutch gap and gonna explore the barge pits. Any insight appreciated.

James river at Dutch Gap was orange muddy this afternoon. More rain tonight and looks like rain tomorrow.

First question. Safety. Have you been in the barge pit before? Do you know your way around so you don’t tear up prop/motor/boat?

Have you been in the Meade pit? There are fish in there right now.

Kekhoff, hope you can put your dad in some fish. The barge pit has got a bunch of submerged prop eaters. If you need help with navigation or a couple places to try with your dad, call me and I’ll try to help.

Thanks Dayton I’ve been in there a couple times I was more worried about logs and debris on the way down to the pits. I never know how quick the logs make it from Powhatan to the lower James. If you get a phone call from 815 in the morning it’s me.
    Thanks
    Kyle
