Default Decent day North Landing River

After double Lumbar fusion at Thanksgiving, surgeon said I could go crappie fishing so last weekend I went to North Landing River on Old Pungo Ferry Road. It was slow last weekend. But not today. Went to the same area and was dragging silver jigs with white curly tails and put twenty nice crappie in the box in four hours. I let go quite a few small ones. Was fishing 10-11 feet of water and kept my speed at .2-.4 mph. Jigs were about a foot off bottom most of the time.

Was nice to get back on the water and get some decent action today

Great to hear you are upright and able to fish. I was out for the first time since October. What a great feeling. Great that the fish were cooperating.

Thank you. I cant say it was easy. I was sore when I got home, just because of the muscle fatigue. Launching and loading the boat was the hardest. Hope is wasnt your health that kept you off the water

Nice job, pretty darn good for the North Landing River this time of year. I never have any luck there until the water warms up a bunch. I live real close to that river but have never found any crappie bigger than 1lb 4oz on it. I have my best luck up West Neck Creek. Sounds like you were near the high bridge. We had one member do well up Blackwater Creek but I don't feel comfortable fishing that branch with the way it winds and the boats that come speeding out of it.

Ive bass fished up West Neck Creek, but have never crappie fished. I was near the high bridge. I went again yesterday and the water was five degrees cooler than last week where I was at. Only caught 10 and they were mostly medium sized. I did get to try out my new rod holders that I built and they worked fantastic

These cost me a total of $38 for both of them. I was really happy with how they worked. Going to build one that goes out front and may build two more for the back corners of the boat
