I have fished both many times and Kerr is my favorite
My family and myself have considered a trip to one or both of these lakes in the late summer or early fall. I was wondering about the crappie fishing there that time of year, are these lakes known for a good average of big fish, good numbers or tough for a new guy to find fish on. We get to take one trip a year and are looking for a place with good numbers and possible whoppers in the mix, just curious if we are heading to a good place for this to take happen. Thanks for any info you will share, good or bad, God Bless.

Big fish on both lakes. More camp grounds and lodging around Kerr I think.
Overall more fish and some big ones in Kerr. Gaston has some really nice fish but are harder to find and has lots more boat traffic.
I'll be staying on Gaston at a friend's lake house, but thought we would pull to Kerr if our chances would be better to find big fish and numbers
