Default Cat fish in North West river?

Is the cat fishing in NWR good doing winter months? I will be down that way soon and want to try it this year. I will be down by Moyock NC. When do the perch start biting in that area? Any input about fishing that area would be great, Thanks.

If my memory serves me (rarely) Feb and Mar are usually good Yellow Perch times. Can't help you with the cats because I never really target them there. James River is good for cats.

As I live just south of Moyock, I can tell you the cats go to sleep in the winter. The bowfin are thick right now, not that you can't still find them. They will be deep and on the bottom. Yellow perch are here now but the big ones, as Bill, said early Feb-March they will be great. Just in time for our Nortwest River yellow perch/crappie Bash. If you need more drop me a pm.
