Default Buggs water conditions in Clarkesville area

    Hey guys and gals,

I am involved in an annual 3 day Striper trip over Thanksgiving weekend. Can anyone tell me what the water conditions are in the Clarksville area? I probably don't want to know but would love to hear from someone who sees it on a regular basis. We have rooms reserved and will be cancelling them Wednesday if things stay the same. We had to cancel 3 or 4 years ago due to excessive rain, but we have had fantastic weather and results for the last 2 years. Can't win them all. Guess we'll do a few Crappie trips to some NC lakes which we had to do a few years ago which turned out to be very productive as well. Well, you can't go wrong fishing with good friends and catching Crappie or Stripers. So tell me what I don't want to hear, but need to know. Thanks ahead for any info. Tight lines to all, Chuck from NC.

Well to me the main lake area around Clarksville still looks to be pretty stained. Clearing up in the backs of some of your major creeks. Between the heavy rains, high water, and howling winds the lake has been messed up it seems for the last couple of months. Now of course people are still getting out and catching fish. Raining heavy outside right now and is supposed to continue overnight. I hope to get back out Friday. I'm not sure that I would cancel my plans, if you know the lake you should be able to find fish just conditions will most likely not be ideal. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Roy! We are still trying to decide what we want to do. However, with what we are experiencing now and what is predicted for Thursday and Friday, we may re-think this trip. What ever we do, we always have a great time and good camaraderie! Catching is important as well, but we do like to have decent conditions for a reasonable chance to have some decent results. We really like the Clarkesville area of Buggs and have always done well there this time of year. Thanks for your info and suggestions. I'll follow this up with a fishing report after we make our final decision. Chuck from NC
