Good report Gene. Its been many years since I fished in Gaston. Our favorite place was Lizard Creek. I guess because I hooked a monster in there once but lost it at the boat.
Went to gaston today with wife, first time fishing in a while ,well we caught 23 before all the boat traffice wore us out so we came home,it was fun till about 10:oo then the boat never stop rocking and took the fun out of it,maybe in another month it will settle down, the fish was not as big as usual for gaston but had 2 13 inchers with many 10 -11 inchers.they were still bitting when we left but could not fill them bite with all that rocking, remind me not to go again on saturday lol, caught them from 5 to 25 feet ,all on jigs. well I hope this stir up the board for it sure is slow, GOD BLESS

Glad you got out and caught fish. Most of my fish also have been in the 9" to 11" range. Seem to catch a few 13 to 14" to keep it interesting. I plan on fishing some maybe Monday and Tuesday.
Yep, dang water bugs ruin the fun for us fishermen. Glad you got out and caught a few. I have not been out in weeks.

Great report Gene!!!! Gaston was my second best right behind Kerr.
Good you and the wife got some line action before the warrior wave action took over. I agree "cooler days mean less waves". lol
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
Thanks for the information. Never fished either lake but got to visit them when we had to leave the coast while on vacation do to Florence. Big water for a Pa boy!Perhaps I can learn a little more and make a trip there for some slabs. We eat lunch at the Laplighter and enjoyed our day.
I went out Monday on Gaston and caught a 14" slab. I noticed that on one of my spots the crappie had left the structure and were suspended over the creek channel. Water temps are down 8 degrees over a week and a front came through with NE winds. I realize I have a lot to learn about why crappie do what they do.
Mustfish, when you figure them out let me know, I was hoping to go this week but with funeral and 2 dentist appointment, grass cutting and other things I will not be able to make it,and just think when you retire you have all the time to fish,ha ha
I’m going to try them Saturday on Gaston haven’t been before Labor Day. I’ll let y’all know what I do
