Tore out a good part of the floor today and checked out the stringers and the foam. Stringers seem to be fine but foam is soaked. So decided the cap has to come off. The cap was also glassed to the floor all over the place. We took off the rub rail, got all the 500,000 screws out holding it together and cut all the glass that tied the cap to the floor. That cutting was hard because it was all seams and had to be careful not to hit the hull in spot. I cut most with a side grinder. We Jammed a crow bar in all the way around the cap and broke it loose. All that remains is putty that is under the front live well and on the transom. Now what we have to do is hook to the front and rear and lift slowly just putting pressure on while I work around the live well and pry until it pops loose and then work the transom loose and it should pop off.once I have the cap off, the remaining floor will be a lot easier to get to for removal. The most time consuming part will be cleaning out the hull of all the saturated foam. Get it out and fill the hull with water one time to check for bottom leaks. Then I will dry and clean the boat out really good and get everything prepped for the new floor. Sounds like a lot but went from just carpet and gas tank taken out to top cap ready to be removed and some of the floor removed. Got a ton done today. My Uncle helped My Dad and I today A LOT. If it had not been for him, we would never had gotten anywhere near as far as we had. Also found out the transom is in great shape which was a big relief. This boat is going to be great.CF
