    Smile 3days, 3limits

Probably my best crappie fishing experience ever. 3 days in a row I have spent at the dam trying to work out the bugs on my new toy. Only to be rewarded with limits all 3days. All fish were 10" or better wed.11"+ thurs.10 1/2"+ fri. Thursday was the best of all. There was a period of about 2hours that I caught a fish on about every cast. I was culling fish that didn't make the 11" length. Probably had a 5-1 ratio of throw back/ keeper. Friday I lowered the size to 10 1/2" because the bite was not as good as the previous day. Fished all day to get my limit, finished strong in the evening right up against the dam casting jigs under that giant barge. Now comes the fun part, a cooler full of fish to clean.Name: 20131122_170857.jpg

20 percent of the fish that were caught on Thursday and Friday had worms. Didn't take a count on the ones from Wed. Probably a little lower percent on Wed s fish as it kept smaller ones.

The worms are a parasite that get into the fish usually around the ribcage and sometimes they are embedded in the meat. They are easily removed, just a little slit cut above the worm and it pops right out. There are some people that will not eat the fish from the chick for that reason. But I'm living proof that they won't harm you as I've been eating them for 30+ years.

Great report Woodduck. I went up to the dam the past two days but the crowd scared me off. I fished downriver and didn't do nearly as well as you, but caught enough to keep me happy. How did you fare during the launch of the green carp club yesterday? It was really plesant where I was sitting- out on the channel in 12 FOW as 200hp hydroblasters screamed around me at highway speeds. Thought I was going to be a goner for a minute or two, sitting out there in my 14' antique. As far as the parasitic worms are concerned, we won't really know the truth until the autopsy.

Great report and pictures. Looks like it would be a blast to fish that way. My main concern for me would be flipping it over into the cold water. Sounds like the bite is on and here comes the crowd.
