Hint... In their beginning years the lure bodies were hand carved out of Boxelder....The metal bills were cut out of chrome or brass from head light bends from Model-T Fords.

Their early hand made production was 8 finished lures per day...The lures were selling for 65 cents.

Ok...Everyone that Said the Layfied Brothers or Layfield Baits were right on. Jester Layfield was a farmer in Texas that designed and made and sold his lures his lures beginning in 1935, he got a patent in 1939. His brother Floyd helped Jester in the early years. After WW ll Floyd got a patent for a lure that he designed. Floyd also made a machine to cut and shape the lure bodies for him and his brother. Jester sold his patent in the late 1940's to the Sunnybrook Lure Company. This company started making the lures out of plastic. Jester worked for Sunnybrook for a couple of years and went back to farming. Here is some pictures. Name: download (6).jpg
