Default The start of VT ice fishing.

I’ve been out a few times so far with okay but mixed results. A combination of crappie, yellow perch, bass and trout as well as a few bluegills have hit the ice. Mostly I use a tungsten jig with a wax worm but one day I did real well with 1” chartreuse gulp minnows.
Just some random pictures from different days.

Good to see you're getting out and getting in to some. Keep the pics and reports coming! I can see the pictures in your first post but not the others; anybody else getting the same results?

I was out last weekend and headed out tomorrow. Wish I could get in to some bluegills on the ice. Haven't figured out where to find them yet. I'll be fishing on the same lake I was fishing in the fall that had the nice crappie keeping me busy. Last week was 4 big perch, (different lake), hoping to do better this time and I'll jinx it now and say I'm hoping to bring a few home.....

Will you be getting out this weekend? We'll keep our eyes open for a report.

I don’t know what I did wrong with the photos, I thought I added them the same way. I’ll try a different way.
I catch bluegills now deep, like 35’ down the same places I’m catching crappie and perch. Later in the winter and right to ice out I’ll catch them in the weeds in 10’ of water.

Can see them now; Wow, nice job!! The lakes I want to fish have only been capped fully for maybe 10 days. Before that the wind kept them open but once the wind stopped and this cold snap blew in they made good ice fast. I was on 6+" on the newest black ice and well over 8" on the older white ice so I think it's here to stay. I don't know whether to treat it as first ice or mid season ice and to look shallow for 'gills here or deep, LOL!

Going below zero here tonight with projected highs in the low to mid 20's tomorrow with little to no wind so hoping it will be a good day to be out. Maybe I can bring a few to the top like you have above.
