Default A few for the freezer, 9-16

Too late to post this last night so I'll do it today.
I got on the water just at 4pm, with the air a windy 73 degrees and the water at 72. Mostly cloudy skies with some bursts of sun now and again. I clipped on the BG Stroll'r that worked so well on Monday and along with the Roadrunner and a twin tail something or other and headed up along the 20ish foot deep contour like last time. A couple of quick 'gills but not much more so I headed over to where I'd found them on Monday. Not much there on the graph, either. Hmmmmmm. I kept going out in to some deeper water and let the wind push me back over the hump that delivered so well earlier in the week. Bingo! This would be the pattern of the night, I'd repeat it half a dozen times and picked up good fish on nearly every drift. My last trip was mostly 'gills but this trip was a crappie trip!

First crappie in the boat was a nice 11" fish, in to the cooler he went, joining a couple of 8" gills I'd gotten early on. Another pass resulted in a double, 2 nice ones just under 12" each!

Here is one of those on the ruler for good measure: (yea, I know he's not quite touching the end, I have a fat thumb and he didn't want to lay still for a photo!)

More nice ones would follow, all my keepers would be 10"+ fish except for one which inhaled it deep and was bleeding pretty good, closer to an 8 1/2" fish. The big bluegill were not as plentiful nor quite as large as my first trip but still nice ones like this.

I left them biting at 6:45 as I had to get them cleaned and processed and didn't want to be up late; I was pretty worn out from work.

I brought home 9 nice crappie along with 5 solid 'gills for fish fry on Saturday night and a few for the freezer.
I tossed back perhaps 3-4 smaller crappie and another 8 or so smaller bluegills. A good night in my book, hoping to get back out again on Sunday morning. Have some family plans to work around on Sunday so it might not develop.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Beautiful Gills & Crappie. Glad to see you are still getting out for short trips. Keep it up. Tight lines.
