    Default After work trip, 8-3

Yea, I know I'm a bit late with my report from Tuesday's fishing but.....

I called 870 to see if he was up for another trip and he was READY! I think he said that he hadn't been out since out last trip so we made it happen. We launched in his boat just at 5 on to a flat, calm surface with hardly a ripple in site. Air temp in the mid 70's and I think he said water temp was 74.

We made our way up along a drop off/weed edge, casting around as usual when we fish together. We were both quickly successful, with the bluegill eagerly hitting our plastics. A few small crappie were also lifted in to the boat early on. We followed that contour up and around the point and found some nice schools of fish on his graph which we were able to hover over and vertical jig. We found some bigger fish here and began to toss the 10-12" crappie in to his cooler. We moved around the point and headed along the contour, landing more bluegill and crappie; the action was steady and we had a great time guessing whether it was a crappie or another 'gill. We found we were pretty accurate with our predictions, too.

As the sun faded and we began to think about heading toward the ramp, we realized the sunset was quickly ripening and the sky was just spectacular so we each paused in our fishing to snap a picture to capture the moment.

It was a fitting finale to our night and we called it a night shortly after our picture taking.

Totals for the night? I have no idea as I was just enjoying the company and outing. I guess we kept maybe 13-15 crappie and tossed back at least that many. All bluegill were returned and I'm sure we caught at least as many of those as crappie. Couple of perch, and I landed a nice pickerel of about 20" to take big fish of the boat for once. Not a single bass was caught, a first for this water.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Outstanding trip again. Fisdhing with a partner is a double barrel of greatness. You both can enjoy the trip and remember the times in the future. Keep up the great fishing. Tight lines.
