    Default Afternoon trip, 6-24

I decided to hit the water last night despite the breeze blowing here at home. I should have listened to my wife! I pushed off a bit after 5 in to a very pesky S-SE breeze and hoped it would not get any worse. I got my 3 lines out, with a Roadrunner and 2 stingers on to start off. Took about 10 minutes for the 1st one on the RR, an average bluegill. Tossed him back and soon hooked this fine one, also on the RR.

I continued along, struggling with the swirling wind that never came from the same direction, with the roadrunner hooking bluegill while the other lines were ignored. The Roadrunner would stay on all evening, accounting for probably 90% of all fish landed. I had a slammer of a hit, a darn good fight and soon lifted this LMB in to the boat, just a few minutes after the big 'gill above.

They sure can be fun on UL tackle!

I decided to mover over around the corner and out of the wind a bit to see if I could find fish along a different path than what I set out to follow. About an hour after my start, I landed the first crappie of the day, a skinny 9"er.

A good number of average bluegill came in to the boat over here as well, mostly on the RR. No other crappie were found here so I headed back out to fight what was now a real wind over to the shady side of the pond and attempt to troll into the wind to see if I could find some crappie. While it was tough going, I did find the crappie there and landed 3 more, better size than the 1st one.

Missed the photo op on one due to being tangled and having another bluegill taking one of the tangled lines while I working on straightening things out.
I had hoped the wind would slack off as evening approached but the reverse happened, it actually got stronger as my trip progressed and I called it a night after hooking a pickerel and having him break me off as I lifted him in to the boat. He fell in to the boat so at least I got my jig back. I headed for the landing at 7:50, fighting that darn wind the whole way.
Totals for the night would be upwards of 20 bluegill, with just a few bigger than average; 4 crappie, 2 pickerel, 1 each of bass and yellow perch. A good trip despite the wind but for sure, I sure slept good last night after that workout!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Good short trip. Fighting wind without a motor is really tough and yet you do well. Glad to see you are gettion out frequently. Keep it up. Tight lines.

Great trip again. You seem to really get into some bluegill. I wish I had some close to me to try to catch. Good job.
