Default Boy scout fishing derby and crappie!

So I decide to host a "virtual" fishing derby for my sons boy scout troop. Fish any where you want however you want (legally) where the general rules.

My son and I fished all weekend trying to find fish for him to win this derby.

Friday we caught a could bream but nothing to great.

Saturday a few more bream and i caught a 17.25 in pickerel. Still nothing to right home about.

Then today, we started early at a local lake and nothing not even a bite all morning. We left that lake and hit two other local spots by noon. 1 bream was all we had tallied for the day.

Lunch break to run home grab a bite and a change of clothes because my son always seems to get wet and it was kinda cold this morning.

So this after noon we decide to go to a place we had never been about 30 min away.

1st cast about 430 we haul in a 15 in crappie. The next 2 hours or so we caught about 20 bream and 5 perch.

Then the bite turns on and we left with dinner and a new found love of crappie for my son.

We caught 7 more and went home to clean and cook our catch.

No better feeling than teaching kids how to clean a crappie and cooking it for them for their first time and they say "man best fish I've ever had! We are going back there tomorrow!"

You guys sure worked hard for them but worth it in the end, it seems. Way to stick with it!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
