    Default Report; 11/21/19 - SKUNK !

Walt & I decided to take advantage of the great conditions today. Air temp was just under 40 degrees and the water was just about the same, at 42 degrees. We started fishing around 10:30 am and pulled off a little after 1 pm. Turned out to be a total disappointment! Our first SKUNK of the season!

We cast and drifted most of the time, over normally productive areas of the Oxbow lake, just off the Ct. River System. At this time of the year, with these water temperature, the big yellows and jumbo crappie invade the shallows. We did our best and we tested all the water between 7' and 15'. We cast straight tails and horse head spins most of the time. We fished slow.....we fished deep. Nothing came together for us today.

This chap was watching intently. Probably laughing his tail feathers off!

And it's not like we didn't mark fish & bait, although it wasn't very prevalent throughout the basin:

But they were having nothing to do with us or our presentations. It turned out to be a very nice day however. And if we'd have stayed home, we'd be kicking ourselves right about now.

We're still holding out for one more trip regardless. The aspects are not looking very promising, but we shall persevere, regardless. Winter is going to be with us a LONG time.

Bummer about the skunk but as you said, at least you took the initiative to give it a go.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

That's too bad. Way to keep at it though. Hopefully it won't be your last trip.
