Default A beautiful fall morning in Maine.

Although it was a beautiful morning, this time of year in Maine that means cold and foggy. I went solo this morning to my favorite fishing hole. The air temp was 30 degrees when I left my house at 5:15. I arrived at the boat launch around 6am and the fog was really thick. I had to let the old 1985 Johnson warm up a little extra this morning. I don't have GPS so I had to take it extra slow and keep to familiar points to make the ride out to my spot keeping the sunrise just behind my right shoulder so I would stay on course. However, the closer I got to my spot, the fog got so thick I couldn't even see the sunrise anymore. Luckily I was coming up on some islands I could use to stay on course.

When I got to the spot I was hoping I could find some fish, I got a couple nibbles early but nothing I could get a hook set on. I fished that shoreline for over an hour only picking up two small Bass. Then I made one pass trolling and made a left out toward the deeper part of the lake headed elsewhere.

It is a large flat area I was still in, only 8 feet of water when I hooked into my first Crappie of the morning. I landed it and tried trolling again almost immediately hooking up with another Crappie. The water was calm, the sun was starting to burn off the fog so I could see, so I decided to cast around. For the next 45 minutes to an hour I stayed in one spot casting and catching. It was great, exactly what you hope for when you finally find the fish.

Bobby Garland Baby Shad in the Bayou Booger color on a pink 1/32 oz. jig head caught most of the fish. With a little bit of G sauce squirted on of course. I caught a few on the MO Glo Screamer color also with a chartreuse jig head. Water temp was 56 degrees which was quite a bit cooler than last week when I fished a different lake.

I had a great time and had to leave by 9am to make it home and put the boat away, clean fish, and make it to a friend's house to watch the Patriots game by 1:00.

Ended up keeping 9 fish. Split them up into a couple of freezer bags for meals for the wife and I. I took a foggy sunrise pic, some fishy selfies, and a couple foliage pics for those who like that. Awesome morning. Hope you enjoy.Name: 20191006_063322.jpg
