Great trip. Glad you are still getting out. We have to take advantage of the open water. Tight lines to you.
After completing my obligations on Sunday, I found a reserve of energy and decided to load up and see if I could add a few more fish to the freezer. I launched about 4:30 and called it a night about 7 with darkness falling quickly. No one was on the water; conditions were good and the weather was perfect; had sunny skies all day but as I pushed out, the clouds were filling in some and the light was filtered. Seemed like a good time to be on the water. Took about 40 minutes to find my first fish, took him on the Southern Pro minnow tube, slowly trolling with my favorite Stingers on the other poles.
A few others soon followed, like this one here, pushing 12".
What little wind I had died off shortly before 6 and the water became smooth as a mill pond. I was able to see the arc come out of the lines behind even before the tips moved on the bites giving me a bit of head start in reaching for the correct pole getting bit. I tried other baits but tonight the minnow tube was the favorite. I had 2 different colors tied on but the gray one pictured above was the hot color, I think it's the "bleeding shad" color. I did get a double, with the green/white tail Stinger landing its fair share as the evening progressed.
I brought home 11 for the freezer; a couple of 9's, but most between 10 & 12". I tossed back 3 smaller ones, along with 1 bluegill that was on the smaller size of average for this water. All in all, a very nice end to a weekend where I didn't do a lick of work but took 2 complete days off from working! That doesn't happen very often in my world. I could use a few more like this!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.Redge, Fishin' Fool MA LIKED above post
