Default Quick trip before the rain, 9-2

I had made plans with my usual partner to fish our limited access water this morning; the approaching weather front shortened our plan but didn't dampen our spirits nor our catch. I forgot the camera so I don't have any on the water pics to display so you'll have to be satisfied with some screen captures of what we found waiting for us. We launched at 8:15 and pulled off in the rain at 10:50.

I could not believe the size of the schools we moved over today. Most of what you're seeing in these groups were bluegill. Although we did score a few calico's today, the vast majority of what came in to the boat were bluegill. We had a pretty stiff breeze out of the south today ahead of the front and we kept getting blown off them but it didn't matter. We'd lose one, or we'd hook up and drift while getting them in and I'd either straighten us out and drift over another group or I'd push us back over them and drift over the same batch and pull a few more out.
In the picture below, you can see another bunch on the left at between 24 and 36' over( that long, bowed white wave), a smaller group on the right mid picture nudging the 24' line and the group just going off screen at the bottom in the left water column.

We were drifting plastics, he was using some soft bait with a Cabela's brand bag and I ended up mostly using my favorite color Slabilicious, with the weight keeping me down in the zone with the wind we were dealing with. I did take a cooler shot when I got home, with the big crappie of the day showing up a bit, he was a solid 12"......

We kept a total of 32 fish; 4 crappie, 5 perch and the rest bluegill. We tossed back many smaller 'gills, probably close to the same number of what we kept as well as 3 small bass. I cleaned them all and my wife has informed me that we'll be having fresh fish with my lemon cream sauce for dinner.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

That's a nice haul. Sounds like a great dinner also.

Great day and catch under adverse conditions. I'm always amazed at the new sonars and their capabilities. Congrats!

Outstanding day for a short period of time. Glad to hear you're getting out.
