Default Finally made it out again

Well, I haven't been able to make it out since June 16th. I have been to 2 weddings and also trying to paint my house. A lot of work for 1 person. So my fishing time has been absolutely zero.

This week I saw a window of opportunity coming on Saturday evening to go out and fish. I talked to the wife about going and she was all about it.

So we arrived at the chosen lake around 3pm. It's more of an afternoon bite than an evening bite there so the timing was good. Being out of the game for 2 months, it took me an hour or so to find the fish but when we found them they were hungry.

Saturday evening was a little on the windy side and trolling around and then drifting back through the hot spot seemed to work great. The Crappie were schooled up next to a bunch of buoys set up for slalom water skiing. That was structure that I had never thought of before. We kept trolling through and hooking up and then drifting back to troll through again. Worked great and the bouys were excellent markers. We doubled up multiple times.

We had 13 fish in the cooler by 6:30 and decided that was plenty for me to clean. All were between 10 and 12 inches. We left them still biting for another day. It was a great evening after a long absence from my favorite past time.

Water temp was 74 degrees. Fish were in around 10 to 11 foot of water. Bobby Garland Baby Shad in Mo Glo Screamer was the deadly color on a 1/32 oz jig head. Hopefully I will be making it out a lot more coming up.Name: 20190824_165938.jpg

Doesn't it feel great to get out again? Particularly when you get on a good bite like you've described. And the Mrs. looks pretty happy with her fish, too! Hopefully you'll find some more time to get in a bunch more trips before the weather really turns.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Great to see you finally got out again. Hope the wife will be easy to convince about another outing in the near future. Have a great day.
