Walt could only fish for a few hours today, so we hit the Oxbow area of the Ct. River system, in the small tin boat. Weather was gorgeous! We launched around 8:30 am. Air started out a tad brisk at around 55 degrees. Water temp was 71 degrees. Winds light to non-existent. We were the first to launch.

We started hitting them right off at the first stop. This is what the area looked like:

The pike were certainly on the bite today too! I got 3, landing 2 and lost one at boatside. The bass were small, as were the crappie, but a lot of fun regardless. Here are some of the fish we caught:

When we pulled off at 10:45, we had caught & released 30 fish; 20 crappie, 4 bluegill, 3 LM bass and the 3 pike. Pretty decent outing for such a limited amount of time. Caught all fish on 2# test Fireline and UL rigs. The pike took awhile to boat, needless to say, but patience rewarded me in spades.

We got most of our catch today on Road Runners and/or CB Slider grubs. And most were caught in 4 - 5 fow. We did scout out the deeper basin and definitely found fish at various depths:

Just could not get any of these deeper fish to take. Then my sonar called it quits! Not sure what's going on with that. Have to do some testing. If it's a battery issue, that's easy. Anything else could present a significant problem for sure. Good day to be on the water regardless!

Hope some of you got to enjoy this unusually GREAT weather the past few days!

That sounds like a great day of fishing. Landing those Pike on 2lb test is quite a trick in itself. Not bad to the size of the crappie. I'll take 20 Crappie any day no matter what size. Fun times.

Looks like a good day even though it might have been a bit shorter than you would have liked. Glad you guys and FF are getting out and giving me something to read!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
