This is only the 3rd. time we've been fishing so far this year! With 20 out 30 days in April raining, we just haven't had a break. It rained yesterday and suppose to rain several more days this week, but today, we finally got a break. So, we hit a local pond that has shown some promise for us in the past.

Launched around 9:45 am with the air in the mid 50's and the water temps around 58 degrees. Cool start, which is why we delayed so long this morning. We did a lot of casting today, along with side pulling jigs over the main basin. Most of the morning we did squat. We tried the 8' shallows out to the 30' basin. Nada! By 11:00 I was fearing the dreaded skunk!

    The day looked gorgeous however:

Hitting a flat just above a 15' drop off we started to connect. Then for about an hour, it was one after the other. Nothing big, but when we pulled off at 1:45 pm (4 hrs.), we caught & released 25 fish; 18 being crappie mixed in with some bluegills and a couple of puny pickeral. Of note was the fact that when we did find the fish, they were concentrated in about 12' of water just in front of an 8' flat.

Here's a couple of shots of our sonar:

Tubes, straight tails and Sliders accounted for most of the fish. I kept getting hits on the horse head spins, but not solid takes. They were really gobbling up the plastics today. Here's a few that Walt & took today....again.....nothing big, but lots of fun on UL gear.

When we pulled off the launch, the air temp got up to 70 degrees! Nice warm up. Too bad more rain is predicted for tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be able to wet a line again sometime this week!
