Default Iced a couple more today

With the days getting longer and the sun getting stronger, there won't be too many more ice fishing trips in my neck of the woods. With today's forecast for temps near 40, and with snow and rain in the forecast for tomorrow, I decided to spend a good part of the day on the ice, trying for some more crappie. Fished from 8:30 to 2:45. Started out in 10-15' of water and jigged up 4 nice perch while waiting for my fishing partner to show up. When he arrived, we headed out to the deep water where I'd found them the first time, and on my last trip last Saturday (we got 11 perch and 5 crappie last week). 1st hole we drilled (gotta love having a waypoint marking the spot!) showed fish near the bottom. I dropped down first and in just a couple of minutes, brought a nice 12" crappie to the snow covered ice. We drilled a series of holes around the deepest water and hole hopped trying to get a few more. One hole produced these 2 nice ones.

The plastic minnow was poured by member Ship Ahoy that I bought a few years ago. Some of last weeks catch, both perch and crappie, were fooled by his lures. Thanks, Ship!

Partner landed his first crappie on his new jigging rod and that turned out to be the last fish of the day so our total was 4 perch, 4 crappie. There won't be too many more ice fishing trips based on the extended forecast. At least I won't be ending the season with a skunk!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Nice to hear from you again. We are looking forward to the "ice out" up here in Mass. Can't wait to get out on the open water.

Tight lines to you this season.
