Wow! You flat out clocked 'em. Great job out there.
I'd been watching the sky all afternoon and decided that today might be a good day to sneak over to the pond and see what might be biting. My weather was similar to Walt and Rich's; cloudy, kinda cool, very little wind. Water temp at 72. Got on the water about 4:50 and left them biting at 6:15 and holy smokes were they biting! I started out trolling 3 rods; one with the road runner, one with a Tennessee shad color Stinger and a new bait for me, a Mr. Crappie Slabilicious:
First fish was a nice 'gill on the roadrunner tipped with a white tailed Crappie Stinger. Shortly after, I had to put the road runner away as the crappie simply pounded that green tailed Slabilicious and the gray stinger on the other pole. I would get under way with the rowing, toss out the 2 poles and within 2 or 3 strokes, one or the other pole would tighten up and I'd have to stop to land a crappie.
I'd taken a small cooler to bring a few home for a meal or 2 this weekend and kept 9 of these eager
biters. The darn fish kept popping the top of the cooler open and flopping out on the floor of the boat! Of course, after the cooler was full, I soon landed 2 that went over 12" each, along with a 12 1/2" yellow perch.
I had many double hook-ups forcing me to clamp one rod up at an angle between my knees while I reeled in and released the fish from the other pole. Anyone watching would have found it to be quite the amusing show. I didn't keep track of total fish caught but 1 perch, 3 bluegills, and a slew of crappie made it a very memorable evening.
