    Default Report; 9/20/18

Since our latest results have been less than stellar, Walt & I decided to hit a new pond (we actually fished it years ago). We used the small boat with my new truck (a Hyundai Tuscon) and everything performed as expected.

We launched a bit after 8 am this morning. Water temp was only 64 degrees which surprised us. But then again, after having torrential rain (remnants of Florence), we figured things would be "different". Here's a shot of Walt at the launch while I parked the truck:

Light wind, cloudy conditions and clear water. We fished mainly jigs dressed with various plastics and some marabou horse head ties. We cast and trolled for most of the morning. We covered depths from weeds at 6' - 30', fishing humps and points and everything in between. We marked some decent fish too!

By the time we pulled off at abut 1 pm, all we got for all our efforts was 9 fish! Most were bluegill, with only one small crappie, a decent white perch (which Walt got) and of course, a nasty pickerel to round out our day. I guess that's why they call it "fishing" and not "catching"!

The day would not be complete without an appearance by some sort of wildlife or another. Here's a shot of a screeching osprey watching us closely:

And if that wasn't all, we watched a crazy squirrel trying to swim across the pond! I'd lay odds on whether or not he made it.

Hope you all got a chance to wet a line sometime this week. It's been a tough year!

Glad you guys got out today; thanks for the report on your efforts.
Beats being inside watching the rain pour down.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
