It's been 10 days since our last outing. Life is getting complicated! Oh well.....we started fishing around 7:40 am this morning, with the air a cool 50 degrees with a light breeze out of the northeast. The water is still only 70 degrees! Way behind the normal warm up.

This what it looked like leaving the launch area this morning:

Beautiful day to be on the water for sure. We scouted out some likely areas over the main basin and found small schools of bait and fish here & there. Nothing fully concentrated as yet. Probably due to the slow warm up this season. Here are some poor screen shots I tried to get of some of these passing groups of 2 - 3 fish:

Largest concentration of bait fish was found here:

Again, nothing to write home about, but whenever we'd come across a single fish and/or group and/or bait ball, the action increased dramatically. When we pulled off at 12:40 pm we had caught & released 51 fish; most being crappie with one rainbow trout and a couple of gills. Not a bad day, but less than stellar, considering our past seasons. I suspect the slow, cold season warm up to be the cause? Most of the crappie were sub par as well with only a couple of decent fish such as this:

And of course, we got lucky and nailed another nice, fat rainbow trout as well:

Most fish were caught today on CB Slider Grubs. Blue/Chartreuse, Pink/Chartreuse were the real winners, along with a "gosh awful" 2 1/8" big Slider in Chartruese/Orange Glow tail! Walter had a blast with that bad boy! My old faithful, the Gray Ghost horse-head marabou accounted for the majority of my fish today.

All in all a nice way to spend a few hours with a great fishing partner. God Bless America!

Actually, we are in Massachusetts. But thanks for commenting regardless. And yes, we do have some spectacular scenery as well.
