there used to be one off 20 by dallas baptist university , not sure if it is open anymore , but YES it's full of slabs and they are and or were considered the VERY LAST choice on edible fish in this area .
there was a total ban on any fish possession of any species for many years and now you can keep some if you are so inclined , but they have and or had LOTS of warning signs around the lake about consuming them fishes as soon as the total ban was lifted.
apparently according to fisheries guys it is one of the very few lakes locally, that is was actually proven that the government polluted and it became public knowledge , they tend to cover up these things well .....
one thing for sure though , it's loaded up with big crappie .....
silly me used to wade it every spring way back when ,in the willows back by the naval air station and eat the heck out of them, then one day my doctor said hey fella your growing a 3rd eye on your ..........
told him no worries bro , now I got my own back side

Well dang! LW water can’t be any different lmao

    They have high PCBs also

Now the challenge to go fish to not eat just increased Mountain Creek I usually catch and release anyway

the difference would be the levels of said ingredients my friend , I only know of 2 or 3 lakes near us that have or had an actual ban on the possessing ANY of the fish ....warnings all over the place , yep , but a total ban suggests the water quality is and or was a darn dangerous soup .....just saying

and the levels at LW according to the folks that test it all the time , suggest the water quality there is in line with what most of the other local waters have in them currently as well , short of the trinity river , it would be the highest of the worst in our area due to street run off events .

I considered going back there to ketch and release a few times myself , there was a moment in time they would not EVEN let you go on the lake , it was void of boat traffic for many many years , during the "ban" ....
I think the boat ramp I mentioned is now open , a word to the wise bro , there be some not so good folks that hang around them parts , lock you stuff tight and do not go near there in the wee hours .....just saying
