I could use some advise for places to stay. Areas to target. Boat Ramps. etc.

Any body willing to help out?

If you're camping or in an RV I can recommend Johnson Creek campground. As far as hotel/motel i don't have any suggestions.

Believe it or not , never been there , but it is typically a boat show in the winter from what I hear , most hit the edges of the channels , lots of big yellow bass in that lake as well , beyond that I am fairly clueless

The lower lake bottom near the dam is very clean. You will see lots of boats there.
Most people bottom fish vertical or drifting. I have a buddy that has been doing good lately using minnows in this area. About 30 fow.

I have decided to stay in the Johnson Creek area. Fishing Feb 3 - 7. We have 4 going, trying to add 2 more.
Looks like we should be prepared for windy, cold conditions.

What’s your preferred style of fishing?
Some fish should be moving back upstream along the channel and some will still be near bottom between Johnson creek and the dam.

Well, I always seem to struggle on new big lakes at first. Takes a while to figure things out.
My preferred way to catch crappie is casting a double jig rig. But under a bobber and vertical fishing w livescope are both fun if your catching them.
I expect that we will be livescoping on timber in deeper water from what I can gather.

Sounds like y’all will be prepared for anything. Good luck. It’s a fun lake to fish.
Only other advice is read the regs closely
You’ll have to keep all the crappie you catch until the end of Feb. the GWs write a lot of tickets.

mister green jeans dont play , you need to be up on the whats ok and what aint , seen them check boats and occupants and fish really hard several times myself .
they get pretty strict when its a boat show in some spots , been boarded before and they went thru everything and it took so long we ran aground. right up on the rocks on the dam and was beating their boat hard on them rocks and when I mentioned it they didn't really seem to care about that much at all , said it's ok ....
the good news is we was super compliant and just got to watch them write blank checks to all the other boats they boarded that day ....fyi
