    Default Less confusion

below are 2 examples of crappie
    one black and one white
just for those that don't know
they are very much different in appearance
and quite often much different in where they are found
both like to hang around cover
whites tend to locate near brush
blacks tend to locate near rocks and concrete
both overlap in the location dept. frequently
    both also roam open water
both eat lots of threadfin shad and ...
the exception to the diet is the black and it's like for tiny water creatures
big plankton and ghost shrimp are relished by black crappie .
    just a quick fyi

One difference quickly noticed in your photos is that the black has his head on the left side of his body where the white has his head on the right side of his body.

I love the looks of black crappie, to me they are beautiful. Every now and then I’ll get one with a Mohawk! 90 percent of the fish I catch are whites. Not sure if it’s just the lake balance or locations i tend to frequent. One things for sure, they are both fun to catch!

we find the taste a little different , not bad by any means on either account just different .
likely caused by diet , but black crappie are somewhat similar to clean water bream in flavor
