    yep clear and stupid deep , 190 foot deep is about as deep as water gets in Texas , researched it a bit and it is likely a tough go for crappie from what I saw .
    they say the docks and piles have crappie on them and it's a poor to fair minnow bite ?
    some of the lakes in that part of the world are tough crappie lakes , the water is really clear and those conditions give crappie an upper hand for sure .

    maybe hit up zak minx on lake waco if you want to ketch a good number of fish , not really in the area you are going to be , but he is ketchn them well on that lake from what I have seen ....
