Thread: Deep Again or Somewhere In Between?

I would target 14 to 20 foot of water. When it is sunny and hot, for sure check the bridges and deep(ish) water docks as they love the shade.

SA- Jus' like us people folk, comfort within our control~RULES! Their means to our digital/push-button AC world = SHADE(eg' bridges, brushpiles, fallen timber, boat docks/piers, separately staged/moored boats off shore. Although it seems us peeps need 5 degree variables to notice, no doubt in my mind that these/our quarry value it by DEGREES @a time. The better the "hold value" of this shade of choice, the longer their non-migration from it will be(eg.- bridges vs shallow brush/fallen tree= stay vs. transition). Cloudy vs. Bright vs. Night time....all viable factors to consider.

I’m a long way from y’all in Alabama. But a couple weeks ago I went it was 96 and water temp 80. I tried all the deep spots,brush in deep water you name it long as it was deep. I ended up casting under a big tree making shade in 5 feet of water. One right after another. It was the only shade for a quarter of a mile. Went on a tried shade in deeper water and nothing. On my way back stopped at that tree and caught several more.

Don’t overlook shallow,
Also if your lake has a thermocline, fish wili not be below that.

it would tend to make me think your lake is void of a thermocline since it's really just a wide spot in the Brazos river for the most part and the river has been cooking most of the year so far .
crappie in there can be tough in the summer months best I can remember ,might be hanging on the river channel ledges in depths around 15 to 20 ?
try some of the standing wood in there along the southwest shoreline , north of 377 maybe , probably holding some fish along that timber line on the outside edge towards the old river channel maybe ?

in my home lakes when summer pattern on and full on sun the boat docks are the bomb and where you can have success. good time to dock shoot or simply dipping along poles or hopefully you have brush planted in the slips. lots of times in bigger lakes it's the ones on the points close to big dropoffs into main lake. often it's bridge piers will hold good fishing.

the docks on that lake are well know year round productive spots , some are stupid good in the winter months .
the problem I encountered there is most of the summer dock fish were small ,not so much come winter though
