    The loop knot is easy to tie once somebody shows you how to do it. But it can cost you some fish if you use braid. Most fishing hooks and jigs have a small gap where the eye of the jig meets the metal shaft of the hook. That gap is large enough that the small diameter of the braid will slip through the gap when you are fighting a fish.

    And this seems to happen more often when you are fighting a large fish than it does when you are fighting a small fish.
