not sure where you are but most of the better bank spots are or will be up creeks and or under docks .
winter fish run up the creeks hard here in a few spots and some of the fishing docks load up big time .
every lake differs though and what is great at one lake isnt worth a hoot at the next .
i will tell you pretty much for sure early and late in the day in the winter off the bank is likely the best times to go .
hopefully someone here will pm you with some information about down that way . maybe Dhaire will know something ?

look around at the area lakes and see if one has a fishing dock
this time of year most load up with crappie .
and ask around , someone might invite you to hit a dock they have .
it might be a night bite as well
someone of those docks have a wee hour bite that is excellent i bet

Granger lake seems to keep coming in my searches. a bunch of docks around there I guess so I'll be trying that out later this week.

I'll let you all know how I do!

so I made it out to granger....seemed like a nice lake, friendly people at the bait store and places I fished. I tried the damn, taylor, and san gabriel. I really liked the san gabriel area....remote feeling like being on the bank of a river all by myself. I was there around sunset and it was a great relaxing time enjoying the sounds of the woods.

I saw some big fish jumping out of the water, not sure what they were though. I was using a minnow and bobber and came up empty for the day.

there was a stream area someone mentioned to me that I will have to look for. they said it was great for crappie but had a lot of poison ivy around it. I was looking for it when i found the san gabriel area.

I drove around the dam area of lake travis too.....all I can say is not what I expected!!! I'm used to lakes like granger that you get close and you know it, you can drive right up to the edge at most parts. Lake travis was like driving a mountain switch back road, hardly saw the water much and couldn't figure out how to get down the edge of the lake in most areas.

Exploring is new areas is always fun even if ya don't catch anything right away.
